I love my nap My evening snack Rest and relax All from me bed I like toast I like tea I like TV All from me bed I like to sleep I like to eat Resting my feet All from me bed My blanket’s warm My pillow‘s cool One drowsy fool When in me bed If you get a note From the firm that I’m head of Right at the top It says, “From the bed of” Since I’m always here You won’t hear it said At least not from me That it’s time for bed I like the rain Outside my room The way it soothes All from me bed I like the distant Thunder boom It sets the mood All from me bed I feel just right Soon out like a light Break from the world All from me bed If I don’t wake I end up dead I’ll end up dead All from me bed

That sounded like a shot Thus thickening the plot Two holes in the wall A knife in the hall Inspect the parking lot (Detect the parking lot) Go round up you know who The usual crowd will do Won’t rest till we got ‘em We’ll get to the bottom Right now I haven’t a clue (We sure could use a clue) Could be some hoi polloi A husband being coy A him. A her Just out of stir Someone in my employ (A bum in my employ) We’ll set our trap at noon They’ll gather in one room We’ll crack this case We’re right on track The guilty party Will have to crack The end approaches soon (All gathered in one room) And so we go to trial The charges here are vile The evidence Is mounting up Of which there is a pile (A monumental pile) We’re gathered in this room We’re lowering the boom The case is cracked His future’s black The guilty party Will be paid back He shall meet his doom All gathered in one room

Welcome mounties Brave and true Loyal and steadfast Through and through Half breed Boniface Quick with a lie Stouthearted men Keen to do or die Make camp here Gather the brides Collect petticoats For bandage ties Come one. Come all. Duty calls Them that never drops the ball Master of the walking game Sgt. Bruce wears proud his name Bold and daring standing tall So come one so come all Postpone the duels Sweet casquette faces No more lonely Old fireplaces A vacant old house Will do for me Was you ever bit By a dead bee? Good Nurse Wood And Sister Bates Lift our spirits Lift our weights

The Journey 05:50
With powdered wig and thumb in hand He journeyed toward a promised land Laid out his plan--what road to choose A lamp of learning be his muse Wound up at Shambar Beach outnumbered Reached a sand bar where he slumbered. Sleeping away that afternoon Woke up and read under the moon He met a Mr. Bannister A man of social register A well bred baron heir apparent One seductive true knight-errant But that was only his disquise He drew his weapon and surprise… So disillusioned, head bowing down Silvery wig lay on the ground He pondered o’er his master plan Could he achieve a scheme so grand? To boldly seek and ye shall find Some somewhere some peace of mind Quashed and quelled romantic quest They robbed his gold. Now penniless As noble a search, it had to cease A quintessential golden fleece (The Journey – Help me find The Journey – Peace of mind The Journey – Light the way Be with me this day) (Know this from the start Home is in the heart)

A shock of red hair was her mane She ordered orange ice We had a red ink dinner Later on I paid the price Floundering around for fish Hope I don’t lose my jib Although I clearly sit in Dutch I wear a lobster bib Not one hair of the dog for me Right now I have the jitters I must have ruffled feathers please Just soda and some bitters A good friend of the clergy Born again our praying mantis Simply just divine is she Ow wavishing Kay Fwancis Faithful member of the Bund Charles L is doin’ fine Riding top down in a Ford He touts the party line Now’s the time to hunker down To choose your dorymate All things hunky dory when The public takes the bait

In cut-away coat High hat and stripes Stood Belle of the ball A sheer delight A handsome young maid A Polaroid swinger By all accounts A real humdinger Panic stricken Young and silly Our office boy A lovelorn dilly On the way home His horse had a blowout Lesson learned Too much trouble to go out His brain in a fog Dripping pie ala mode Simply agog About to implode This was surely Kismet karma His destiny No willy nilly I’m in earnest, he cried Now once and for all I must have Belle Belle of the Ball

The Statue 02:46
The Statue of Liberty Asked me to supper Lower middle class me While the Statue was upper A buttercup fizz At the old Paradise Club Don’t know what it is But I didn’t tell that Dub The chorus girl blinked At my posh cigarette case Knew I didn’t drink By the sick look on my face I dropped the judge off At the town City Hall My innertube popped. Meantime I had to call On young Mrs. Horton I was quite late But finally arrived As I drove through her gate The Statue of Liberty Dressed in a house-coat Invited me in Holding a bank-note She said have a seat With a curious winking She slid towards the bar Asking what are you drinking? That girl had her own Very own soda fountain How do all the others Manage doing without them? Ginger and root And a sweet orange nectar In walks Phil Phil the Inspector Who questions poor me And then with a smile Says, “Life’s but an oil change Every three thousand miles”.

Old Mr. Dwight Treated workers like dirt I ordered a burger He ordered stuffed shirt He blew his own horn He beat his own drum Honor was met with His nose and his thumb I played along The arrogant slob He needed a song I needed the job ‘Lo I could never Hold my tongue Thought I was clever When I was young So came the day It hit the fan I had my say And promptly was canned I’m still writing jingles From my LA tent When strangers walk by I curse and I vent They throw me a look They treat me like dirt I suck down my burger They tuck in their shirts They walk on by The arrogant snobs They tell me that I Should get me a job Revisit that time Where still I don’t bend Can’t play the game Get canned again They’ll have their turn To try and fight That’s when they‘ll learn That Dwight makes right

In Your Face 02:00
An in-your-face sadistic beast Who’d hover right above you You never knew when he would strike Then say good night, I love you The other armed with subtle scorn His dagger just as sharp He’d cut you with a biting horn That sounded like a harp

The Telegram 03:29
A telegram came I thanked the good porter The dining car called to me Sam took my order I was nervous at first Til I sat beside her She said “BSY” And I said “surrider” Soon we’d reach Our destination She’d be part of My ed-u-ma-cay-tion All aboard With every station Whistle blew Good time, we was makin’ A comic there showed me A picture he painted Of birds walking slowly And one that had fainted The campus was still The council outlandish I felt a tad ill I saw Dr. Standish Remembered her name When I saw her letter All ablaze Sewn onto her sweater Chiming clock And tolling bell All ringing true I knew all was well

He Did It 04:00
She couldn’t place his face Are you someone I should know? He could hardly recognize That gal from long ago He himself was suffering A man so proud and strong We did have some golden years But it’s gone on too long Father of five, three still alive Who needs this kind of trouble? Once a hunter tall and fit Now every day a struggle Early evening phone call comes A scream shook all the rooms Then silence, like a punch in the gut Until the screams resumed He did it. God he did it Said he would and now it’s done He did it! Can’t believe it Satin pillow. Crimson gun No quality of life remained Both robbed of joy and pride Old soul who could not bear the pain? Who took with him his bride The loved ones that he left behind They keep their secret close They grieve and try to carry on Whilst living with a ghost

More boat than man More sea than land The soothing sound Where water breaks More sun less shade More wind and wade More sail than beach More thought than speech More oar than arm More drift and calm Cast off all chains Where peace remains More lone than crowd More soft than loud More sea than sand More boat than man
